Version 2.6 of the CITA RSS Aggregator

We got some immediate feedback following the release of version 2.5 that we thought was worth a follow-up release. So here it is.

Version 2.6 provides the following improvements over version 2.5:

• If the system encounters a problem with a download, the downloads summary screen now displays a button that allows you to restart all problem downloads.
• The downloads summary screen now automatically selects the first item in the download list and, if you cause the list to refresh it makes an attempt to highlight an appropriate item.
• If you right click a download in the tree view at the left of the main screen, you now see an option to open it directly from the web site. This avoids the need to download it first. Note, however, that it's not always possible to open the download directly, in which case you will see a Windows or browser error.
• When displaying a channel summary in the main page, we now show download items unless you have downloaded or dropped them. That means you can see the download item in full if you click 'Show' from the download alert.
• Whenever a download is dropped, the system automatically removes details of any preceding problem. This allows the list to suppress the item if you ask for it not to show dropped items.
• The 'reload' button in the download summary screen did not always force the new download.
• Changes made in the download summary screen are now more consistently reflected in the tree view shown in the main screen.
• We have activated the 'Retry' and 'Ignore' buttons on the download alert if there is a problem with the download.

If you downloaded the beta version of this release, it is still worth downloading the full version because it contains some subsequent enhancements and the help text matches the screen changes.

If you are unsure which version of the Aggregator you are using: click the Aggregator icon in your system tray to open the main window, and click 'Help', 'About RSS Aggregator'. You will see a window that shows you the Aggregator version number.
