Desktop version of the CITA Local Information System
The desktop version has three main components:
As shown at the CAB national conference
... click here to see the system being shown at the Knowledge Fair
- The enquiry program provides a simple way for people to search for local information and find the information they need
- The maintenance program allows authorised people to add, change and delete entries in the system, and helps you keep the information accurate and up-to-date
- A set of utility programs to help you manage the system; for example:
- A program for maintaining ids and passwords
- A program for changing the way the enquiry program works and for distributing changes around your network automatically
All the system components share a single database which can be installed on any PC in your office - the system does not require a special server. You can also install copies of the system on PCs used for outreach work.
