Changes in version 3 of the Ten Foot products
I have made the following changes to version 2:
- I have added a BitTorrent client. This is a program that downloads large files (and collections of files) from the Internet and stores them in the right directory ready for you to use them. For example, you can get films, TV programs and music that are published as BitTorrents. The client integrates with the Ten Foot Browser so clicking a link to a torrent starts the download automatically.
- The Launcher has a new option to inhibit automatic sleep/hibernate. I have my media centre set to suspend after 3 minutes as a power saving feature. However it is irritating to have it suspend just because I am distracted by something else when a program ends. I therefore ask the Launcher to prevent that happening.
- If I manually suspend my media centre, the Launcher resets itself automatically
- The Launcher can now be instructed to respond to the eHome button (the Big Green Button in the centre of Microsoft remotes). The Launcher can run your media centre software if you do not have Microsoft Media center, or you can instruct the Launcher to run another program at the same time as Media Center.
- Normally the Launcher minimises certain programs (such as Media Center when you launch a program. You can now override this behaviour for any option.
- I have improved the screen resizing algorithm to make the best use of the available space on your display.
- If you use the Launcher to run a program that is already running, or use the Program Manager to activate a program, the target program is restored to its previous state if it is minimised./li>
- The Program Manager and the File Manager use the Left and Right buttons/keys more intuitively.
- The Program Manager and File Manager displays automatically refresh when you activate them.
- The File Manager supports renaming of favourites so you can give each one an easily recognisable name.
- There is a new menu option that allows you to minimise the Browser.
- All the Ten Foot Products use a consistent green colour for their green buttons.
- I have improved the appearance of the supporting manuals.
- Activating the Launcher via a hot button no longer causes the tollbar button for the previously activated program to flash.
- The File Manager no longer takes a long time to display its initial screen if you have multiple, removable drives that are not ready.
- The File Manager no longer crashes if you try to go to a favourite that no longer exists.
- The Launcher no longer 'forgets' its resized position when it is reactivated.
- The Launcher acts only on hot buttons while it is minimised.
All your history and settings from version 2 are preserved when you upgrade to version 3.
