Desktop version of the CITA Local Information System

The desktop version has three main components:

  1. The enquiry program provides a simple way for people to search for local information and find the information they need
  2. The maintenance program allows authorised people to add, change and delete entries in the system, and helps you keep the information accurate and up-to-date
  3. A set of utility programs to help you manage the system; for example:
    • A program for maintaining ids and passwords
    • A program for changing the way the enquiry program works and for distributing changes around your network automatically

All the system components share a single database which can be installed on any PC in your office - the system does not require a special server. You can also install copies of the system on PCs used for outreach work.
