Online demonstrations of the Local Information System
From here you can see three different demonstrations of the intranet version of the Local Information System:
- The standard system. The demonstration uses out-of-date data, but is otherwise a working version of the system we supply.
- A password-protected system. This is the same as the standard system, but requires you to enter an id and password to get to it.
- A system that uses user groups to tailor its appearance and to control access to
entries in the database as well as sections of an entry's text. It also demonstrates the Local Information System working as
a subdomain which could be a useful way to support multiple offices sharing a common system; for example:
- town1.areacab.org.uk
- town2.areacab.org.uk
- etc...
To see the update features, you need to log in as a maintenance user. Normal web users cannot change entries in the local information database. To log in as a maintenance user: go to the password-protected version; or click the 'Log in' button at the bottom left of the search page. The log in page provides a suitable user id and password.
You can get help using the system by clicking the 'Help' button at the bottom left of the search page.
Please let us know if you encounter any problems with this release or if you have any suggestions for improving it.
